From about sophomore year in high school, Jason knew that he wanted to be in the fitness industry. He was a 4 year letterman on the cross country team and loved that when he started to apply himself that gained confidence and felt amazing. He wanted to share this feeling with other people and when he graduated from Redlands High in 2007, he went to Cal State San Bernardino to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science. Jason finished his degree in June of 2011 and started to do personal training. Making people feel strong and healthy made him feel like he had found his purpose in life.

Jason was first introduced to Weightlifting through CrossFit back in 2009 and just like everyone else who tries CroosFit for the first time, it definitely made him feel uncoordinated and not all too strong. For some reason, even when he was doing CrossFit, he was attracted to the technical aspects and fluidity of the movements (ie the snatch and clean & jerk). Through sheer determination for the next 3 years, he was able to improve his technique and strength. It was around this time that he met his future coach, United States National Champion Anthony Pomponio. Jason attended a local clinic Anthony was teaching and they immediately hit it off. Jason and Anthony went on to training with eachother for the next 2 years and just from the 1-2 sessions a month Jason was able to attend, he saw a dramatic increase in his technique and confidence. In December of 2014, Jason made the decision to do weightlifting full time and to make a goal to qualify for the American Open, which is a national competition held once a year. For the last 3 years, Jason’s lifting has been steadily improving and he’s getting extremely close to qualifying for the AO. Jason’s most important advice to his clients is to trust the process and be patient with steady progress instead of always expecting huge improvements all the time.
